A fine art print of my sheep cartoon Swaledale Shenanigans is now available from my online store here: https://portraitsofpets.co.uk/product/swaledale-shenanigans-sheep-art-print/
Having been inspired by recent visits to the Yorkshire Dales, I’ve brought my sheep characters out of retirement, having last drawn them some 20-years ago. I’ve seen some funny antics from these woolly characters during my years in Scotland!
I also love the stone barns of the Dales, one of which is included in the cartoon. In beautiful Swaledale, where there is a high concentration of these barns, they are more commonly known as a “cow’us”. The “cow’us” in this particular cartoon is based on an actual barn you can find near the village of Gunnerside … Keep an eye out for abseiling sheep!
Each print is professionally printed on Somerset Enhanced Velvet 330gsm paper which has a texture similar to the watercolour paper I used for the original, 8″ x 8″ in size and priced at £19.99, including postage (UK only).
To bring the antics to life, I painted the original cartoon using watercolours on a heavyweight watercolour paper, with permanent black fine liner used for the outlining work.
